Mission Statement

Sophie’s Dream is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated in assisting and fully restoring the person mentally, spiritually, physically, emotionally and financially after experiencing trauma, grief, tragedy or abuse. The focus of our process of healing is rooted in original theological principles of why and how we are created. Sophie’s Dream is focused on providing a positive environment of encouragement and support for healing along with practical resources to aid in helping the individual become financially independent.

Vision

Sophie’s Dream is dedicated to assist in fully restoring those who have experienced trauma, grief, abuse and help them focus on their God given gifts and talents to help them create a new future full of hope and joy. Scientific evidence has shown that the arts heal the mind and body and create new neural pathways in the brain.

Sophie’s Dream believes that everyone is born with a passion from childhood that stays throughout adulthood. When living that gift out, it can create a sense of higher purpose, value and joy. Those who have focused on their higher purpose using their gifts and talents, have experienced not only emotional healing, but physical healing as well. Science has proven how it can positively change brain chemistry and aid in making the immune system stronger resulting in fighting off disease.

There is scientific evidence that when people are given a higher purpose and are appreciated for their passions, gifts and talents, that it can also aid in their physical and mental healing.

What We Do:

We at Sophie’s Dream are dedicated to implementing the latest research and technology in healing trauma and PTSD through non-drug therapies. We assist in helping others hone their talents and skills and create experiences and opportunities to help launch a career doing something they love to do that is relevant to the industry and gives people the confidence to provide for themselves financially as well as opportunities to serve and give back to the community.

Eventually, Sophie’s Dream would like to build a restoration center focusing on helping the homeless heal from their traumas, focus on what is right with them and give them the self-worth to know that they can achieve their dreams one step-at-a-time through creating positive habits and goals.

Sophie's Dream also has a goal of providing many resources as a "one-stop" location. For those who have tried to navigate through the social services system, it is incredibly challenging to go to many different locations filling out multiple forms with numerous interviews just to get qualified for basic services. Most who are struggling with homelessness have no phone or transportation to get their basic needs met. When a person is in trauma, they are very confused and trying to figure out the huge government bureaucracy process can be too over-whelming for most. The waiting times for emergency needs to be met is so long that it doesn't do any good.

It takes an average of 3 years to get approved for disability and 70% are denied. Sophie's Dream is focused on providing options for people to move forward without government assistance by providing a network of non-profit organizations that can assist in various capacities. Governments do not usually have non-profit resources to suggest. So, many people don't know there are other resources besides the government that can help in a more efficient and timely manner. We are dedicated to bridge the gap to get people the resources they need as soon as possible.
