My Story
I left a domestic violence situation and ended up being homeless for over a year. Even though I have a graduate education and was very successful in my career, I ended up isolated, homeless, in shock, with no safe place to live. I woke up to the reality that what I believed about my spouse was what I wanted to believe and suddenly found out it was not the truth at all. The discovery of the real truth and the double life he led, put me in a state of shock and trauma. The most common form of domestic violence is financial abuse in which one spouse has no control or access to any of the finances. My spouse had left me penniless and I was unable to find a safe place to stay to heal.
Unfortunately, I found out this is situation is quite common. Sixty five percent of homeless women left an abuser. That means they thought they were escaping to freedom only find the streets as their solution. I ended up going through the whole social system and found so many things broken and antiquated. I had to find a way to survive, one-day-at-a-time, one-step-at-a-time. Today, I have become a living testimony concerning healing from trauma and PTSD from abuse and not just surviving, but on my way to fully thriving!
I founded a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) based on a system developed through my journey and what I believe has been divinely inspired. The program's end result is to fully restore someone physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and financially.
The happiness and contentment people so desperately seek is sometimes where we spend the least amount of time looking. These inspirations and lessons cannot only help heal and restore someone suffering from homelessness, addiction, and trauma, but also help someone who has, by the world's standards, become successful in every way... but somehow they still feel empty and unfulfilled.
Although many reach for drugs, alcohol or other addictions during difficult times of grief and trauma, I, instead, focused on God, the gifts He gave me, trusting Him and moving forward. God showed me how to heal and I want to help others heal as well.
I now can say that my horrendous time has been turned into an opportunity to bless and help others who have experienced similar circumstances. If it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone. Thank you for any support financially or otherwise to help those who are hurting to be healed and live out their purpose based on their passions and gifts. Blessings!
